Story:
A fun filled tale, the story is about Seenu (ram) who hails from Anakapalli. He is a trouble in the town as he wants to get married but then he is failed graduate. An incident pricks his ego and he decides to finish his graduation. For this, he comes to the city and joins a college. Here, he comes across Sruthi (hansika) and falls in love with her. Meanwhile, a noted goonda and villain Bhavani (sonu sood) is also after Sruthi and he kills anyone who goes near her. A sequence of events gets Seenu to Sruthi with the knowledge of Bhavani. Both of them fall in love but in comes Rajann (jayaprakash reddy), a person ten times powerful than Bhavani. He wants Seenu for a specific reason. What is that reason? Is Seenu successful in his love story? What happens to Bhavani? All this forms the rest of the story.
Presentation:
The director has come up with a predictable storyline and while the presentation was good, the narrative was impressive. The dialogues were strong and impact creating, the script was above average while the screenplay was the highlight. Background score was good and two songs were upto the mark. Cinematography was eye catching. Editing was sharp but was required during second half. Costumes were stylish and trendy while the art department was rich. The film belongs to Ram as he carries the entire duration with full adrenaline and gusto. He also scores in dance department. Hansika looks chubby and is a visual feast but she has to be careful about her weight. Aksha looks sweet and gives a good act. Sonu Sood was a show stealer, he gets the brownie points. Jayaprakash Reddy was effective. Brahmanandam shines this time though he was brief. Raghu Babu was hilarious, Chandramohan, M S Narayana and Srinivas Reddy did their bit as required. The others added value to the film with their act….
Conclusion:
Though the storyline might give you a familiar feeling, it is the taking and making which really works. While the first half goes off smoothly, it is the second half which gets dragged for a while before culminating into an interesting climax. The film works due to the comedy factor and the pace. At the box office, the film will appeal to the mass and family audience along with those looking for commercial entertainers. A hit looks very likely.

Naa Peru Shiva Review: This film is the dubbed version of Tamil movie Naan Mahaan Alla. Directed by Suseendran, this film stars Karthi in the lead role. Naan Mahaan Alla is a decent performer at the box office and the same producer, KE Gnanavel Raja who produced it in Tamil dubbed in to Telugu on Studio Green banner. Karthi is fast growing Tamil hero in terms of dubbing market in Tollywood. With Yuganiki Okkadu and Awara, he got a decent fan base in AP too. Read on Naa Peru Shiva details in this review.
Shiva (Karthi) is a middle class guy who is waiting for a job opportunity. He loves Priya (Kajal Agarwal) whom he meets in a marriage. She too falls for him but their love is not approved by Priya’s father. As per his wish Shiva takes up a job in a bank. Everything goes fine for Shiva until a group of college kids plans a murder attempt on his father. Why are they after Shiva’s father, what happens next is to be seen on the screen.
Analysis:
Director Suseendran made a successful debut in Tamil cinema with Vennila Kabaddi Kuzhu, which was later remade in Telugu as Bheemili Kabaddi Jattu. In this film Suseendran dealt with an urban based story which has romance, entertainment, family sentiment and crime blended in it.
First half of the film races along at a brisk pace with lots of good comedy. Karthi is the source for all the fun in the first half. However, the movie takes an unexpected turn in the second hour and slowly turns out to be a crime thriller. There is so much edge of the seat stuff in the second hour despite few slow patches here and there.
The protagonist character too takes a huge turn towards the finale. Last twenty minutes in the film has a high dose of action. It is difficult for anybody to handle such script which runs along various genres and shifts from one to another at a rapid pace. Director handled the film very well until the penultimate scenes. However, the conclusion leaves you wondering with a ‘how could that happen?’ face!
Director should have ended the film with hero seeking the revenge. Adding that one last scene is absolutely unnecessary. Also the antagonists that are supposed to be teenagers looked like they were in their mid twenties. Choosing an apt star cast who perfectly resembles the age might have left more impact on the audience.
This film is for matured audience and the violence in this duly deserve an A certificate. So kids should stay away from this film as there is ample footage of drug usage and crime in it.
Performances:
Karthi is simply superb as Shiva. He did a marvelous job in the first hour with impeccable comic timing and he is equally menacing in the last fight. His brother Suriya who is a terrific actor needs to work out to look perfect for each role but Karthi is gifted with a flexible body with which he could easily switch genres.
Kajal Agarwal is cute. She has very little to do in this film. She is hardly seen in the second half. Two among five villains will leave an impact. Jayaprakash, Raviprakash, Soori and others did well within their limitations.
Technicalities:
Dialogues are crisp. Music by Yuvan Shankar Raja is good. His background score is the life for this film. Madhi’s cinematography is another plus point. Kasi Viswanath’s editing is crisp. Only fight composed by Anal Arasu is breathtaking. Production values are very good.
Director Suseendran’s plot may not appeal to everyone but he shines as a director. Only complaint about his work is he kept the core content till the climax and he had to hurry to wrap up things in that time. Had he given enough time for the hero to go on a rampage, masses would have lapped it up.
Final Word: Naa Peru Shiva is a slick film with weak ending!
Box office verdict: Naa Peru Shiva opened huge and it shows Karthi’s growing craze in Andhra Pradesh. This film might face tough competition from straight Telugu films Dhada and Kandireega which are lined up for release in next week.

Nani-Nitya starrer Sega, I believe came out with much expectations owing to the success that the couple got with their last film Ala Modalaindi. The trailers and the music heard in songs were the attracting elements. But the title certainly wasn’t obvious to the kind of impression it made. It was probably with an idea to drag audiences to the theaters.
PERFORMANCES:
Hero Nani, yet again bears witness for what acting and performance is about. Without a hitch, Nani seems to wear the skin of the character of a poor boy from the slums and lets you find the person he plays which feels so real. Less color on him adds to the elevation of the character. This film is his first Tamil film being dubbed in Telugu. And I have a feeling that he’s going to be one amongst the few who can stand in with success in the Tamil Industry too. On his opposite is Nitya Menon, seen consecutively for the second time. And no, you’d not be bored to watch them again. Her character is also deglamourized and wears the no-makeup look; that suits her so well and I like it! Its praiseworthy to see how Nitya continues to keep up the promising performance that she has delivered in her last two films too. Personally, I give a thumps up to the new dusky couple on the screen- Nani and Nitya. Rest of the supporting roles played by various other known artists worked exactly right for the director’s need. Karthik needs to be special mentioned for decently carrying out the action he was signed for and along with him is Bindu Madhavi who surprisingly played a prostitute which speaks for a lot of acting work. She worked boldly but the disappointment remained that it was limited doing nothing much with the length of the film.
TECHNICAL ANALYSIS:
On the technical front, any lame viewer would instantly feel the exquisite pleasure of the theme of the film. All credit to the camera work. Smart framing, dingy lighting worked more than well for the situations run through out the film. The visuals in the songs especially, soothes and lets one experience pure pleasance. Kudos to Om Prakash for all the brilliant cinematography! What synchs absolutely well with the visual effect is the film’s euphony. Whether its the veracious background score or the endearing sound of the songs, Yashua Sridhar receives a great appreciation. So the visual and sound effects leap out but what might not have equally worked is the screenplay. You’d dislike those slow moments which apparently did not add to the intensity required. Well, the story has nothing new but the director, Anjana has made her attempt in treating it with variance. It is a tough task for a lady to work with such gloomy stories. I would say, she has succeeded in some degree and not wholly.

ANALYSIS:
So, with the threesome- friends tipping in the waters at beach in merriment and a peachy girl confessing her love in full vividness; the music and the peculiar picturing with Nani and Nitya together again finds one good number of reasons not to miss Sega. To my wonder this film isn’t about fun or passion. The plot is made on two major grounds- Drugs and Prostitution. Yeah, that sounds quite dark and sinister clouded but honestly I’m not where to categorize this- A dark film or a love story or a thriller! Director, Ajana lets herself down committing unbearable blunders. The entire first hour is dealt with a very thin story line and lessened intensity though the screen play seemed just about average. The mistake arises in the second hour which evidently speaks volumes for the inability of the director’s work. Anjana was probably trussed in a way, considering the kind of subject she took up. But the film would have worked the way it ought to only if the script had gone out-of-doors and unwrapped its murk. Not only the story developed to be pathetic but the characters also behaved unreal. The director’s so called different take has actually misfired making absolutely no sense. The title song that comes during a rough fight broke to be a comedy and it all ending abruptly leaves you with one question- Why was the movie made! If it was the music or songs that attracted you, you’re good appreciating Yashua and nothing beyond.
VERDICT:
Apart from the music there are all good reasons to go easy and ignore the film. Anjana succeeds in drawing some crowd to the theaters but leaves them all in a state on confusion. The blurred story line and narration, ineffective screenplay and a sharp hasty end played the spoil sport. It could give you bad start to the weekend, filmies!

Story:
A punch packed tale, the story is set on the backdrop of Shivgad, a village in the border of Maharashtra and Goa. Here lives Bajirao Singham (ajay), a tough and honest cop who is loved and respected by all in the village. A sequence of events happens and Bajirao is pitted against the powerful politician and criminal Jaykant (prakash raj). This leads to a clash and using his influence, Jaykant gets Bajirao transferred to his city. Bajirao also has a romantic side in the form of Kavya (kajal) who supports him. Meanwhile, Jaykant begins to make life miserable for Bajirao using his tactics. How Bajirao deals with them forms the rest of the story.
Presentation:
The director has come up with a known storyline and while the presentation was above average, the narrative was gripping. The dialogues were well written, the script was strong and the screenplay was effective. Background score was intense and three songs were very good. Cinematography was the highlight. Editing was sharp and trimmed the film in a right way. Action sequences deserve special mention. Costumes were appealing and elegant while the art department was apt. Ajay Devgn has come up with a riveting performance and he leaves an impression. Prakash Raj was equally intense and he scores the brownie points. Kajal Agarwal had a brief role but she made her presence felt. Ashok Saraf was entertaining, Sonali Kulkarni was nice, Sachin Khedekar failed to impress, Govind Namdeo was good, Sudanshu Pandey was effective. The others did their bit as required and added value to it.
Conclusion:
The film is the remake of the Kollywood hit ‘Singham’ and despite being a copy, there is enough nativity in it. While the first half goes about with the elements of action, comedy, romance, the second half is filled with enough twists and it culminates to a gripping climax. Technically and performance wise, the film scores in a big way and though the content is predictable, it is the execution which doesn’t leave any idle moment. At the box office, this has it all to appeal to the masses and commercial audience. Success looks imminent.

INTRO:
More than the films that flaunt Vikram as an artiste, it is Vikram himself that any of the movie-buff and even a critic would love to look forward to. Starting from Bala’s Sethu to the recent Mani Ratnam’s Raavanan, the actor has been coming up with unbelievable variations and awe-inspiring innovation in each and every performance. This time, he is playing a mentally challenged father who shared a sensitive bond with his sever years old daughter. Dubbed from Tamil Deiva Thirumagal, Naanna is based on Hollywood I Am Sam. As the title suggests, the film is expected to be a harbinger of emotions. Let’s sink in the same…
PERFORMANCES:
The least you talk about Vikram, the better. For, he leaves nothing for you point out at. The perfectionist in him gushes out in every act and deed. In this case, as a person with developmental disability, Vikram is fantabulous. You could do nothing but get carried away by his presence on screen. He makes you laugh, cry, feel the pain and revel in happiness… along with him. I’m sure he would steal the show at every award function for this outstanding character.
Baby Sara, who played the seven-year-old daughter of Vikram has fitted in the role like anything. One usually can’t expect so much from a child artiste, but she is an asset to the flick. Her subtle sensations and unconditional love for her mentally challenged father is heart-touching. She gave more than 100 per cent for her role and turned out to be a great performer.
Anushka Shetty, on the other hand, as a lawyer lends a great support to Vikram and of course the emotions laced up in the story. For the first time, she tried her luck at enacting comedy and does a decent job too. She deviated from her glamour-doll image and attempted a performance-oriented role, which is laudable. Nazar is really convincing as a topnotch lawyer. Santhanam, Surekha Vani, Amala Paul and others did what their characters demand them to do.
TECHNICAL ANALYSIS:
The scenic locations in Ooty look strikingly exquisite in the film, thanks to the cinematography. Every frame represents to be an artistic marvel. GV Prakash’s music suited well with the story. Nowhere does it sound force-fitted. Background score has indisputably brought life to the movie, but gives you an impression of watching the Tom & Jerry series at times.
The way the plot has been narrated is my personal favorite and I loved it the most. However, the script is too thin and is unmistakably made for claiming awards rather than commercial viability. As regards the screenplay, it is long-drawn-out for the first 45 minutes but picks up pace only later. Overall, it can be rated below average. Direction, then again is one front where it requires more and more. Vijyay appeared immature as a film-maker in the case of Naanna.

ANALYSIS:
No one could have done as much justice to the lead character as was done by Vikram. As a person who has grown by size and not mind, he outshines and makes a mark in your heart as an artiste time and again. Naanna is an out-and-out Vikram’s film and he rules the roost till the end. You would be helpless but take home Vikram and only Vikram. The story really doesn’t have much on platter but the credit goes to narration. The first-half has no story at all and can be trimmed closing your eyes. The actual one starts only in the act-two, which is really touching and adds the strength quotient to the whole flick.
The film however got some good performances, especially the father-daughter duo. There were moments when I literally shed tears, particularly while watching the court scene. The slightest of feelings that Vikam and Sara communicate for each other are the true highlights and bring in the significance and value of their relationship in a more than life-size canvas. There is also some decent comedy by Santahnam in the second-half. Background music is an asset. In brief, Naanna should have been short and sweet in conveying the content, which it evidently is lacking in.
VERDICT:
Naanna is positively not the choice of a regular cinema-goer and has its flaws. It’s extremely dragged, making it tortuous. The fist-half is just a curse for the audiences. It happens to be an off-beat film made keeping in mind the harvest of prestigious awards, which of course aren’t new for a proven actor like Vikram. Such films rarely survive at the box-office. Nevertheless, the emotions fabricated between the father-daughter are moving and makes you feel heavy. I’m sure it would surely make you cry at times. Watch it for Vikram and Sara, but unquestionably not the pre-interval episode. A habitual movie-lover absolutely would say a no-no to watch it in theatres.

Story:
Raghava (Lawrence) is the only son of old mother (Kovai Sarala). He plays cricket betting and winning on opposite teams. Raghava is feared of darkness, ghosts and devil stories. He takes help of mother to go for bathroom after 6PM. Children of Raghava’s brother (Sriman) makes fun of his timid character. Raghava’s sister-in-law (Lakshmi Rai) comes to their home and she falls in love with him.
One day Ragahava and friends go to a new ground to play cricket. As they dig cricket stumps into the ground, these wickets pierce into a buried dead body inside the earth. Ragahva and friends run away with scare. The blood stains marked on three wickets will bring the ghost spirits to Raghava’s home. Total family is feared with weeping sounds and shadows moving in mid night.
A temple priest will give them a solution by providing them three tests to find whether there is any ghost existing in their house or not. All three tests prove successful and evil spirit enters into the body of Raghava who starts to behave like a woman wearing saris, bangles and keeping turmeric on body while bathing.
Raghava’s mother runs to Muslim peer sahib in Dargah for help. Using tantric powers, Peer Sahib pulls the devil out from Ragahava body. Name of this devil is Kanchana which tells its story.
Kanchana (Sarath Kumar) is a Hizra faced many insults at home for transgender sexuality. Taking shelter in the house of a Muslim Baba, she adopts one more orphan Hizra and makes her into a doctor. Kanchana wants to build a hospital for poor people and buys land. This land is illegally occupied by villain MLA (Devan) and his family members. They also kill Kanchana, Baba and his son for intervening in middle for this land. All three dead bodies are buried in this same land where Raghava has dug the cricket stumps.
Kanchana wants to take revenge on MLA using the body of Raghava. But Muslim Peer Sahib seals this spirit into a bottle and throws it into sea. After listening the story of Kanchana, hero Raghava feels pity of her and removes ‘Tayattu’ tied on his hand welcoming Kanchana to get into his body. Now Raghava becomes Kanchana and kills MLA with the help of god Lakshmi Narasimha. Later on Raghava feels responsible constructing a hospital in the same piece of land naming it as Kanchana Hospital.
Performance
Lawrence performed superbly in role of Kanchana. He showed routine dances and fights in the character of Raghava. His make up was horrifying and convincing as Kanchana.
Heroine Lakshmi Rai is limited to dances in the songs.
Sarath Kumar is powerful and sympathy generating over Hizras.
Kovai Sarala annoyed with irritating loud voice and cheap comedy. Sriman is good, comical. Devan is local villain MLA
Analysis
Kanchana is a film to be liked by front benchers. There is good commercial formula tested with Muni. Now sequel will also benefit producer and distributors. Nevertheless horror films have less success rate. Lawrence molded this film into a pack of interesting thrilling episodes and comedy with message on Hizras. Music by SS Thaman is hair raising n noisy. Dialogues are average. Songs are not good. Dances from Lawrence are old styled. Bellamkonda Suresh invested fewer amounts on production.
Verdict :
Raghava Lawrence succeeded in coming up with a horror film that has plenty of fear generating scenes. Logic in Kanchana is same as Muni. So result may also be same, a hit film in lower class centers and average in metros. Particular set of audience who enjoyed Muni will also like Kanchana.-MM

INTRO
Eshwar Reddy hogged the limelight with his debut Mee Sreyobhilashi, which dealt with a social issue and offered solution to the problem as well. His next Manorama was no less inspiring having portrayed terrorism in its backdrop, however, it couldn’t relate to the viewers much. This time around, the director and story-screenplay writer decided to try his luck at different genre – slapstick comedy. What more, he weaved a story compiling incidents that occur in 36 hours and assures the same to bring a huge curve on your lips. Let’s check out if I got one on mine.
PERFORMANCE
USAbrought-up Varun Sandesh continues his same-old style of dialogue-delivery in American accent, despite about three-long years of his stint in Tollywood, which by some means gel well with his character luckily. But then, he seems to be adequate. Femina Miss India 2011 winner Asmita Sood makes her acting debut with the flick and proves to be a good performer. However, her complexion is gaudy, thus making the close-up shots too worse. Poonam Kaur is just okay like any of her earlier roles, while Jaya Prakash Reddy in his Rayalaseema dialect is very funny. The villain made a right decision to reveal his witty sides every now and then.
Brahmanandam who plays the title role – ‘Brahmigadu’ turns a narrator so as to explain the whole story to the viewers. His entry is a true highlight, like that of any of his previous movies, and he is hilarious at times. Krishnudu plays the friend of the hero and has tried with a different dialogue-delivery this time, which was highly amusing. He is amazing at the chase sequence in the first-half. The rest of the cast is passable.
TECHNICAL ANALYSIS
Music by Koti sounds below average and we find no song noteworthy to reminisce. Cinematography is tolerable and nothing to rave about. Screenplay is more or less similar to what a silly comedy film would have. The storyline seems to be inspired from Sekhar Suri’s A Film By Aravind, but a comical version of it. Though a customary story, it was given an uncommon treatment by the director making it more like commentary. Dialogues are witty enough to make to laugh to the core, the ones delivered by Jaya Prakash Reddy in particular.

ANALYSIS
The storyline is similar to that of A Film By Aravind, but here Brahmanandam narrates what’s going on the screen. A good amount comedy is spread across the movie here and there, but not in full-length as was told in the promotional activities. Nevertheless, every time Brahmanandam and Jaya Prakash Reddy appear on screen, they promise a laughing riot to the film-watchers with their mannerisms, dialogues and expressions. In fact, the two turn out to be the real heroes than Varun Sandesh.
An inflexible script would have added zing to the efforts, the lack of which is making the flick taste like a half-baked cake. Eshwar Reddy would have handled the plot much better than he expected. The production values are tolerable. The unnecessary twists at the end kill the joy. Except for the handful of funny moments, which of course play a vital role in making the audiences sit in the cinema, there is nothing notable to look up to. I did smile watching the movie but never showed by 32, alas!
VERDICT
The flick turns out to be silly comedy at the end of the day despite the minority of humor force-fitted hither and thither. A taut and decent storyline would have been the grace for the movie but no avail. The director doesn’t make the grade at the comedy genre unlike the message-oriented flicks.
